Job Description

GE Vernova is hiring a Principal Engineer — Power Electronics for its Advanced Research center at JFWTC, Bengaluru. You will work with engineering, product and service leaders across GE Vernova Electrification, Renewables and Power businesses to shape technology and product roadmaps that define the disruptive future of GE Vernova's electrical and grid technologies. What you will do: - Build a robust portfolio of Research programs to drive the electrification strategy for GE Vernova with engineering teams across the company. - Shape and lead early-stage technology development with high disruption potential and mature these technologies from initial concept to successful product introduction. - Coordinate disruptive technology efforts in close collaboration with GE Vernova businesses and incorporate them into long-term multi-generational technology and product roadmaps. - Own demonstrations of new technology development in the lab to internal and external customers. - Provide technical leadership across GE Vernova on disruptive technologies and market trends with a strong understanding of competition. - Shape and foster strategic collaborations with universities and external technology/business partners. Deep domain knowledge required across electrical systems and grid-scale power electronics: power electronics hardware, simulation, control, protection, power converters (AC and DC), high voltage and medium voltage architectures, circuit design, semiconductors, power quality, power conditioning, sensing techniques, packaging techniques, faults, arc flash, harmonics and grid code compliance. Hands-on experience expected with lab-scale development, testing and validation of power electronics hardware — grid-scale high/medium voltage converters, controllers including DSP/FPGA, filters, relays, system simulation tools such as PLECS, Matlab/Simulink, PSCAD, hardware-in-the-loop — with demonstrated ability to scale to field implementation. Qualifications: - Doctorate in Electrical Engineering (Power Electronics or related) with 15+ years of experience, OR Masters with 18+ years. - 10+ years deploying electrical systems to business and production environments. - 10+ years leading teams or large projects. - Strong record of peer-reviewed journal publications and conference presentations.
