Our editorial structure
Every published article is owned by a named editorial desk. We operate six desks: AI & Skills (Sangam Yadav), Labor Market & Compensation (Gurpreet Singh), Global Mobility (Husnara Shaik), Career Strategy (Aditi Goswami), Early Careers (Grace D'Souza), and Company Intelligence (Vikram Desai). Major research reports — salary studies, hiring intelligence briefings, AI workforce analyses, and industry research — are reviewed by Dr. Arvind Rao, our Editor-at-Large and Research Advisory Board Chair, prior to publication.
Sourcing standards
- Every factual claim is sourced. Salary figures, hiring numbers, placement data, layoff counts, immigration policy changes, and company-level statements cite the primary publication (regulator filing, company press release, official government notification) wherever possible.
- For aggregate market data we name the dataset — AmbitionBox, Glassdoor India, Naukri Salary Insights, LinkedIn Salary, NTA notifications, CollegeDekho, and the OwnYourCareer Jobs database — and report sample sizes when material.
- Anonymous sourcing is reserved for accounts of interview processes and compensation negotiations where the source would face retaliation. We never publish anonymous claims about named companies without an on-record secondary source.
Fact-checking workflow
- Every headline claim is cross-referenced against at least two independent sources before publication.
- Numerical claims (salaries, placement counts, layoff figures) are reviewed by a second editor for unit consistency, arithmetic, and source-attribution accuracy.
- For major reports the reviewer (Dr. Arvind Rao) signs off on methodology, sample-size disclosures, and statistical interpretation before the article is published.
AI-assisted research disclosure
We use AI tools to assist with research, summarisation, draft editing, and source aggregation. AI tools never write final articles unsupervised — every published story is reviewed, edited, fact-checked, and approved by a named human editor. Headline writing, editorial judgement, source selection, and conclusions are exclusively human. If an article relies on AI-generated analysis as a central source (rather than as a drafting aid), we disclose it in the article body.
Updates & revisions
Articles covering time-sensitive events (exam results, hiring announcements, immigration-policy changes, salary releases) are updated as new information becomes available. We timestamp the last review date on every story. Substantive corrections trigger a corrections-page entry; see our Corrections Policy.
Conflicts of interest
OwnYourCareer is owned by OYC Labs. We earn revenue from employers who post jobs on the platform, from sponsored research partnerships, and from candidate-facing tools such as the Resume Fit Score. Editorial coverage is firewalled from commercial relationships — sponsored content is clearly labelled and held to the disclosure standards in our Ethics Policy. No editor on any desk receives compensation tied to coverage of a specific employer.
